Norway is a breathtakingly beautiful place - I have seen nowhere else where snow-topped mountains and deep blue seas exist side by side at the same place. This feature can be seen in the the fjords of Norway. These are overdeepened valleys formed by glacial activity in the Ice Age - usually narrow and steep-sided and filled with salt water. The steep mountains that rise from the waters of the fjord have lush green vegetation and are often snow-capped.

I made this trip with Shibaji-da, Durba-boudi and chotto Popai.

We started the journey from Copenhagen to Oslo in the fabulous luxury cruise ship called the 'Crown of Scandinevia' on 8th September, 2005.

We reached Oslo on the morning of 9th September and spent that day there

The next morning we embarked on the best part of the trip - the journey which is called 'Norway in a Nutshell". The journey starts from Oslo and finally ends in Bergen. I have broken this up into the following pages -

Oslo to Myrdal by train - http://oslo2myrdal.blogspot.com/

Myrdal to Flam by the Flamsbana - http://myrdal2flam.blogspot.com/

Flam to Gudvangen, the fjord cruise - http://flam2gudvangen.blogspot.com/

Gudvangen to Voss by bus, then to Bergen by train - http://gudvangen2bergen.blogspot.com/

We reached Bergen on the night of 10th September and spent the next morning there. Finally we took the return flight from Bergen to Copenhagen on the afternoon of the 11th.
